The Gentoo Sailing Team Sustainability Program is an initiative at the core of our team. We are striving to prove that being sustainable does NOT come at a cost to performance, but rather excels our innovation and impact.

Sailing is a perfect platform to promote sustainable technologies, lifestyle choices, and wider environmental messages.

Our aim is simple:

Compete in the Vendée Globe carbon neutral, developing technologies and our message

Win the Vendée Globe as a carbon negative team, delivering on our objective to show the world that being sustainable does not come at the cost to performance

Despite our efforts to minimise and offset our carbon footprint, we will also be using sustainable fuels, materials and eco friendly products where possible for the construction, maintenance, and repairs of the yacht, in addition to the day-to-day operations of the team.

Further to our physical efforts, we will be collecting data during our racing and training in areas such as; water pollution (micro plastics), salinity, water temperature, air pollution, and wind. This will be utilised to develop a better understanding for our environment and future strategies to combat our climate change and environmental threats.
